ISIS Mobile Wallet: How it works

AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless have just launched the pilot program in Salt Lake City to get people to pay for stuff with a wave of your phone. Once you go to a store and come to the checkout counter to pay for the goods you've picked up. All you need to do is wave your mobile phone near the kiosk, checkout counter or POS machine and your bill is paid. The venture launched by these three mobile carriers in the US under the join program name Isis, lets you do just that. Simply tap your phone or wave it in front of the kiosk and your bill is paid. So, instead of presenting your debit or credit card, just wave your phone and your bill gets paid. it is currently available in salt lake City and Austin Texas.

Phones on which the ISIS mobile payment system is available on
There are only 10 smartphones on which the Isis mobile wallet is available on HTC Incredible 4G, Motorola Razr HD, Motorola Razr MAXX HD, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Relay S 4G, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy Exhilarate, LG Escape and the Samsung Rugby Pro.

To do so mobile phone users will first have to go to one of the carriers' stores and get a free SIM card installed.

What about security?
Isis works like Google Wallet or Amazon but with a big difference. If you use Google Wallet you card information is stored on Google servers and Google does all the processing from their end. With Isis you get a SIM card that that encrypts and stores all your data. Isis also uses an outside service called Gemalto to handle the secure handshake between consumers and merchants.

It is available on Android phones, when will the iPhone get it?
Isis plans to offer the service to iPhone users as an add-on case for about $40 -$50. The case will have a chip installed capable of interacting with merchants.

How to know if a merchant is ISIS ready?
Look for the symbols on a merchants store -- the same as the image in this post.

How to Use Google applications via SMS text message

This is one cool mobile app feature from Google. There are a number of Google services that you can now use on your phone via SMS text messages. The cool part of this whole thing is that you don't need a smartphone, neither do you need one of the new phones being sold these days. All of this works over on an old feature phone and you can now get your Grandma to use Google on her feature phone. The only condition is that your phone should be able to handle SMS and be able to receive and send texts.
