The Trump-Xi Beijing Summit: What the Smiling Handshakes Won't Tell You

On Thursday, Donald Trump will walk into the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, shake Xi Jinping's hand, and declare it a great meeting. There will be announcements. There will be numbers — billions of dollars in Chinese purchase commitments, a new bilateral mechanism with an important-sounding name, possibly a joint statement on Iran. Trump will post on Truth Social. Markets will rally briefly. Pundits will argue about who won. None of that will tell you what actually happened. What is actually happening in Beijing this week is something more consequential and more uncomfortable than the summit theatre will reveal: two leaders of two deeply mutually dependent superpowers, both of whom need this meeting to succeed for entirely different reasons, sitting across a table in a world that has already moved past the assumptions that defined their last nine months of negotiations. The Iran war changed the equations. The rare earth gambit changed the power balance. Taiwan is sitting in...

A Steve Jobs Movie could be out pretty soon

It has already been reported that Sony has acquired the rights to Walter Issacson's authorized biography of Steve Jobs and have now decided to do a film on his life. They also have a choice of who they would like to write the movie. Aaron Sorkin is their top choice - he won an Oscar earlier this year for his Facebook flick - The Social Network. He has confirmed that Sony have approached him to wirte the movie and 'It is something I am considering' he has said. Sorkin also says that the only reseach he is doing at the moment is reading Issacson's book and that as of now, Steve Jobs is more of an inspiration to his 11 year old daughter than him. She plays with all the Tech Gadgets from Apple. As this stage nothing much is known about the movie and who could be the casts. If there is someone who you think should play Steve Jobs let us know in the comments section below.  An original post by Sociolatte

Video: Samsung "Next Big Thing" Galaxy S II Commercial

Samsung Galaxy S II Samsung has a Galaxy S2 commercial out and with it they have gone straight after the competition - Apple. The Korean mobile phone maker has started an ad campaign by taking on the iPhone. If you watch the commercial you will notice that they try to keep the conversation real-world and stick to what debates are actually happening  with SmartPhone lovers. One line in the ad goes 'I can never get a Samsung'. Good job with the ad and for sure it has spurred on the SmartPhone debate. Taking on the Apple Fanboy culture with the commercial seems like quiet a long shot, for starters the Apple Queue was not long enough and apparently the look and brightness of the phone has been tweaked. The ad points out 4G and a better battery life. Highlighting the current battery problem with the iPhone 4S. There is however no mention of Siri. Take a look at the Ad and do leave a comment.  An original post by Sociolatte

The Top Three companies young people in America want to work for

Employment data and consulting firm Universum conducted a survey asking 6,700 people where they would like to work. The WSJ has the results. The companies that came out on top are not a surprise at all and as you might have guesses which companies they are.  1. Google 2. Apple 3. Facebook Google is still the company that most people would like to work for. The culture of 20% time for your own projects is something that anyone who wants to do something in life would crave for. Plus there is also the additional perk of a cool office culture and employee compensations.  Meanwhile large financial institutions did not fare well and there is an element of distrust when it comes to these companies. Something else that came out of the survey was that job stability was most important and uppermost on most people's minds. Seems that most people have held on to their jobs because of the tough economy. Given the scarcity of jobs people are staying longer at their jobs than they would have pre...

Mini iPad arriving in 2012 ???

Apple Insider is reporting that a mini iPad could be seen in the market in the early months of 2012. According to sources it is believed that the mini iPad is to rival and take on Amazon Kindle Fire. Amazon Kindle Fire is their first foray into the touchscreen tablet market and costs just $199. The rumor that a device somewhere between an iPod and iPad from Apple is not new. This smaller device can come with iPad functionality and sit in the $200 price range. This would make the device much more appealing to a large market segment. We had previously written about a cheap iPhone that could come from Apple. This would ensure that they get into the global prepaid smartphone market which till now is untouched. In countries like India and China the market for a prepaid iPhone would be really high and would give Apple a chance to get into the global smartphone market at a very competitive level. The market till now has been enjoyed by Nokia and BlackBerry. A mini iPad could do just that beco...

iMessage launching on Wednesday

iMessage will be out this week on Wednesday. We have already  written  about what iMessage is and how it works. Well just to recap iMessage is the messaging system that comes along with iOS 5. iPhone users can now send unlimited texts and messages to each other at no extra cost. Works on the lines of BlackBerry's BBM service. With the launch of iMessage, Service providers now have a cause for concern as people signup for texting plans but with iMessage you don't need a texting plan especially if most of you friends use iPhones. iPad and iPod users can also use the service if they upgrade their operating systems to the latest iOS 5. Once upgraded users can then send an unlimited number of texts and messages from their devices.  This is a killer for Verizon which makes $7 billion a year from texting fees. So the waiting is over for iPhone users who have been waiting for this update and can now enjoy unlimited texting for free. 12 Oct, 2011 is the date and make sure your device ha...

When people heard of the death of Steve Jobs one of the trending topics on Twitter was the hashtag #iSad. There are a number of pranksters who have been joking about the whole thing. That is something we do not want to get into here because Steve Jobs is respected and always will be. The iSad theme however is beginning to take shape and you can see from the images and pics below how the logo is designed according to Apple styling and conveys the message in a very Apple sort of way. iSorry also seems to be gaining momentum and we will need to wait and see. for now here are a collection of iSad and iSorry images. Video: 3 stories by Steve Jobs

There is a fantastic video on YouTube where Steve Jobs is delivering his commencement speech to the graduates of Stanford University in 2005. He mainly takes about being fired from Apple and all about life and death. In the video Steve tells the audience three stories. The first one is about connecting the dots. Where he says that no matter what happens in life there is always a purpose and it is only after you go through much in your life that you can later look back and connect the dots. There will always be a connection for your benefit. His notable quote during the first story is 'You have to believe in something your gut, destiny, life karma, whatever.  The second one is about love and loss. Steve says he is found love in what he wanted to do but lost when he was kicked out of Apple. The only way to do great work is to love what you do. The third story is about death, 'Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me ma...
