Is your FB profile Genuine?

Is your Facebook profile an enhanced impression of yourself? According to the University of Texas researchers the answer is no. Surprising they say; related to other dating websites where the profile and person in real-life do not usually match. Facebook users on the other hand give quiet an accurate account of themselves on the social networking site.

"Psychologist Sam Gosling at The University of Texas at Austin said: “I was surprised by the findings because the widely held assumption is that people are using their profiles to promote an enhanced impression of themselves.”

"Sam Gosling, collected 236 profiles of young adults on Facebook as well as a similar social networking site in Germany. The researchers used personality questionnaires and interviewed friends to determine the profile owners’ actual personalities, assessing traits like extroversion, agreeableness, openness, neuroticism and conscientiousness"

Well maybe it could be because people on Fb have real friends and you cannot pretend in front of real friends. Especially when many of those friends you have had from early childhood. It really does not pay to boost up an imaginary image of oneself which can get a lot of Boo's than Aha's
