Running a large WordPress blog and you want to know all your dead links and missing images. Broken Link Checker is a WordPress plugin that does just that. There are many reasons why this could be useful. You do no want to send your visitors to a site or a page that does not exist anymore. Since clicking on a link will only return a 404 error, meaning that that does not exist. It is also a dead-end route when it comes to search engines since their bits will not be bale to follow these links. If you have a large blog then too many of these links can also be bad. There are also images that you might have linked to and they maybe missing leaving your otherwise colorful page looking a bit dull and boring.
Using this plugin is a boon to blog owners because once it is installed it will start checking your whole site and this may take some time depending on the size of your blog or site. Once a broken link is found you will have the option to remove that link, remove the link but keep the text, edit URL and change the link. There is also the option to manually change a broken link to unbroken if you are sure that the link is not broken. Once installed it will show up in a new tab of the WP admin panel - Tools -> Broken Links.
