FarmVille Beehives

You can now build your very own Beehive! A completed beehive allows you to grow thriving honeybees which will produce pollinated crops!

Please find more information about the Beehive below:

Beehives:

Upon loading into FarmVille, you will see the following pop-up.

When opening your Gift Box, you will find a Beehive. Once you place the Beehive on your farm, you will see a pop-up like the one below. Alternatively, you can purchase the Beehive foundation from the Buildings section of Market for 5,000 Coins.

Once you’ve placed the Foundation on your farm, you will be prompted with a message letting you know that you can post a feed to ask you friends for help building your hive.

Clicking the "Share" button will give you the option to post a feed to your wall. When clicked, this will take your neighbor to the Free Gifts page where they can send you one of two building materials for the Beehive.

Selecting ‘Look Inside’ from your foundation’s menu will show you what you need to complete your Beehive.

When you first place the foundation, you’ll have one Smoker already. In order to build a complete Beehive you’ll need 10 of each item. You can get these items one of three ways:

1. From neighbors via the Free Gifts menu.

Neighbors can send you the components you need to build your Beehive. Your Neighbors will be able to send you two of the five types of building components to help you complete your Beehive.

When neighbors send you a building component, it works exactly like any other free gift. After you accept the gift it will appear in your gift box.

After clicking the "use" button under the gift it will automatically be added to your Beehive.

2. Purchasing components from the Market

You can purchase components required to build your Beehive for 1 Farm Cash per item. To purchase these, use the Buy button located in the hive’s construction menu.

3. Ask For More

When viewing the interior of your unfinished Beehive, each component that you have not yet received 10 of has an ‘Ask For More’ button, that when clicked will take you to the Friend Selector page where you can select friends to send Gift Requests for your chosen component.

Once you receive 10 of any single building component, you’ll have the option to post a feed to your wall. The first ten neighbors to click this feed within 24 hours will receive a one of the same building component for their own Hive construction.

When you reach 25 items overall, you’ll receive pop-up that will allow you to post a feed to your wall. The first ten neighbors to click this feed within 24 hours will receive a random building component for their own Hive construction.

When you complete your Beehive, you will receive a popup asking you if you’d like to share the news with your friends. Clicking the Share button on this popup will give you the option to post a feed to your wall that will give up to 10 neighbors who click on it a free beehive ingredient.

Building your Swarm:

Now that you have completed your Beehive, it is time to build a colony of bees.

To build your colony, first you need a rare Queen Bee. Queen Bees can be found when harvesting flower crops on your farm or fertilizing flower crops on your Neighbor’s farms.

You may also buy a Queen Bee from the Hive’s menu for 10 Farm Cash.

If you find a Queen Bee, you will receive a pop-up informing you of your discovery. Your Queen Bee will automatically be added to your Beehive.

If you find a Queen Bee and you are already in possession of one, you will have the option to share it with one of your friends by posting a feed to your wall.

Once you have found your Queen Bee, you can start growing your colony by clicking “look inside” from your Hive’s menu.

Honeybees allow you to find pollinated seeds from fertilized crops. The more honeybees you have, the higher your chances are of finding pollinates seeds.

Pollinated seeds unlock special pollinated crops in the Market. Pollinated crops have a higher chance of producing bushels than normal crops and will last for two days.

A Beehive can hold a total of 200 honeybees.

There are two ways to obtain Honeybees.

1. Purchasing

You can purchase Honeybees from your hive’s menu by clicking the “buy Honeybees” button. You can purchase Honeybees in groups of 5 for 5 Farm Cash.

2. Neighbors

From your hive’s menu you can request bees from your neighbors by clicking the “Ask for bees” button.

Remember, keeping a thriving colony of bees is no easy task! Your bees must be tended to every other day, or you risk the chance of some of them flying away!

FarmVille Official Podcast - July 9th 2010

Hey Farmers, and welcome to this week’s installment of the Official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we will be discussing our latest releases, I will be answering some questions from members of the FarmVille Community, and you guys will all be getting a sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the future.

Well, our releases this week really gave our players something to be excited about. On Tuesday, the long awaited 26 x 26 Land Expansion finally made its way to FarmVille, giving some well deserved leg room to all of our Farmers. The 26 x 26 Expansion can be purchased with Coins or Farm Cash. If you wish to purchase the 26 x 26 with coins, you must add 5 new Neighbors unless you are already at the limit of 300. You must also have a minimum of 35 Neighbors to purchase this expansion. If you meet both of the above requirements, you can expand your land for 2,000,000 Coins.

Alternatively, the 26 x 26 Land Expansion can be purchased for 80 Farm Cash from the “upgrade farm” section of the Market.

The new Swiss Alps theme has also been going strong this week, with over 15 new items now available in the Market for both Cash and Coins. If you have not already had a chance to take a look at these items, they are a great addition for Farmers who enjoy unique, nature inspired themes. Items like the new Swiss Alps, Evergreen Tree and the Bison are now available in the Market for a Limited time.

As part of the ongoing Swiss Alps theme, we have also released the new Limited Edition Alpine Roses crop. The Alpine Roses are a 10 hour crop that are available at level 29, cost 145 coins to purchase and yields 250 coins when harvested.

Now before I go ahead and get into answering some questions from the community, I want to give you guys a quick reminder about the FarmVille Sheep Fan Page. As part of an event we hosted a few months ago, players have the ability to unlock a never before released Sheep by becoming a Fan of our FarmVille Sheep Fan Page. Once the Sheep Fan Page reaches 2 million fans, we will release this new addition to the flock. Currently, the sheep fan page has 1 million nine hundred and ninety thousand fans, so we are only 10,000 fans away from seeing a new sheep added to FarmVille. If you would like to become a fan, a link to this page can be found in the description of this podcast.

Alright! And now it’s time to answer some questions submitted by members of the FarmVille community.

Our first question comes to us from MikeFord122.

“What is the FarmVille team’s favorite limited edition special that you have had? And will there be more puppies to come in the future?”

To answer your first question, since there are so many members of the FarmVille team, it pretty much proved impossible for me to find a Limited Edition item that everyone could agree was their favorite. However, some of their favorite Limited Edition items were Nessie, the Cowboy Gnome, Drop Zone and the old White Owl.

To answer your second question, we will be periodically releasing more puppies in the future, since they are so popular with our community.
Our second question comes to us from ItsNicoleDude. “How far in advance does Zynga choose and design a theme before it’s launched to all Farmers?”
Well, depending on the theme the time it takes to launch a new one can vary. With brainstorming, art, QA and development, it can take anywhere from two weeks to a month to get a new theme launched to all of our players.

And finally, our last question comes to us from chorikawa321.
“Can the Zynga team please bring the podcast back to iTunes? The last podcast on iTunes was December 11, 2009. I liked it when I could download the podcast and listen to it when I’m on the go.”

Well, the FarmVille Podcasts are typically hosted on YouTube. However, if you would like to listen to the audio file without going to youTube, you can now stream the FarmVille Podcasts from itunes.
However, we are still working on making the podcasts available for download. Our farmers on the go will be able to download the weekly podcasts once again in the near future.
And now it’s time for the part of the podcast I know you have all been waiting for… its time for a sneak peek of what will be coming to FarmVille in the near future.

Firstly, I know everyone has been eagerly awaiting the release of the Black Stallion. I am happy to let you know that the Black Stallion will be released next week as a new Mystery Animal.

And speaking of mysteries, a new Mystery Game will be making it’s way to FarmVille soon. This new mini game will allow you to get all new Limited Edition items when playing.

More Limited Edition Swiss items will continue to roll out over the next few weeks, including items like the Ibex, Matterhorn, and a new Gnome!
And lastly, the new Garage will be coming to FarmVille in the next couple of weeks, along with new tractors, harvesters and seeders. If you have not guessed it yet, the garage will provide storage for your vehicles and will allow you to make special upgrades to them. We will also be releasing special 3×3 harvesters and seeders as co-op rewards.

Alright folks, that’s it from me this week. Again, my name is Lexilicious I will be back next week to bring you all of the latest news and information from around the Farm. Happy Farming every body!

How does FarmVille calculate Land Expansion

Ever wonder how FarmVille calculates the cost of land expansion?

Well, with the latest
26x26 land expansion being rolled out and currently available as a limited release, lots of farmers are wondering how the 2 million coins price tag for 26x26 land expansion is validated . Please note, not all farmers have access to the 26x26 expansion at this point. More users will gain access over the next few days and eventually everyone will have the 26x26 available in their FarmVille Market.

A FarmVille Freak came up with the following equation that FarmVille seems to have used for past, current, and future land expansions. He shared his equation via the official FarmVille Forum.
"I've done the math, and the current price formula for expansions is ridiculous. I have determined this:

14x14 -- 52 New Plots = 10,000 coins | ~192 coins per new plot
16x16 -- 60 New Plots = 25,000 coins | ~417 coins per new plot
18x18 -- 68 New Plots = 50,000 coins | ~735 coins per new plot
20x20 -- 76 New Plots = 75,000 coins | ~987 coins per new plot
22x22 -- 84 New Plots = 250,000 coins | ~2,976 coins per new plot
24x24 -- 92 New Plots = 500,000 coins | ~5,435 coins per new plot
26x26 -- 100 New Plots = 2,000,000 coins | 20,000 coins per new plot" (Ben MKM)

More details on the 26x26 Land Expansion:

  • Can be purchased with 2 Million coins OR farm cash for 80 FV$.

  • The coin option will require you to add 5 new FarmVille neighbors, unless you already have the maximum of 300 neighbors allowed.

  • You must have a minimum of at least 35 FarmVille neighbors to purchase the expansion.

  • Land Expansion is currently in a limited release, meaning only a certain percentage of farmers have access. FarmVille will be "slowly rolling out" the expansion to all players over the next few days.

How do you feel about the latest FarmVille Expansion? Is it too much? Does it matter? Will you purchase as soon as possible?

FarmVille Shiba Inu Puppy

FarmVille today released the new Shiba Inu Puppy available for 65 farm Cash. The puppy cames in brown, black and white and will help you fetch things when fully grown.

Shiba Inu puppies are small and agile dogs that look very much like an Akita; but only smaller in structure. These puppies are the smallest of six original dog breeds from Japan, and were originally bred for hunting. However now, they can very well cope with mountainous terrains.

The meaning of Inu is dog in Japanese; however the origin of 'Shiba' is not so clear. The word refers to a red shrub; so it could be used in the name Shiba Inu puppies because these dogs used to hunt in wild shrubs or because their red color is similar to that of shrubs. So a literal translation of Shiba Inu puppies would be Little Brushwood puppies.

FarmVille Podcast – June 18th:

Hey Farmers, and welcome to this week's installment of the Official FarmVille Podcast! My name is Lexilicious and I am here to bring you all of the latest news and information about FarmVille from Zynga. This week, we have been very busy with all of the new updates and releases, so this week's podcast is going to be a little shorter than usual. I am going to give you guys a quick re-cap of our latest releases and of course, you guys will all be getting a sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the future.

So this week proved to be another very exciting week for FarmVille, with tons of new highly requested features and Limited Edition items being released.

Much to the excitement of many of our higher level players, On Tuesday we raised the level cap. Levels 70 through 90 were released, along with new high level crops, items and gifts. All of the new crops are level 50 and above and some require previous crops to be mastered before they can be unlocked. Now, if you have some high level friends, make sure to ask them for some of the great new high level gifts like the Dutch Rabbit and the Mangrove Tree.

More Limited Edition Island themed items were also released, which will allow any players who are getting into this theme to further decorate your farms. Yesterday's release of Island items was the last installment of this particular theme, so if you are interested in turning your farm into a tiki paradise, make sure to pick up these Limited Edition items before they disappear from the market.

Now, one of the most exciting releases this week was the addition of rotatable buildings! Most buildings in FarmVille can now be rotated, which will allow you to decorate your farm with ease. Currently, there are some buildings that are not yet able to be rotated, but please know that we will be adding the rotation functionality to most of these items in the near future. If you would like a detailed list of what items cannot be rotated as of yet, please visit the official FarmVille Forums and check out our "updates and announcements" section for more information.

And to celebrate this long awaited and highly requested update, we have also re-released some of your favorite old Limited Edition buildings for a short time. If you missed out on some of our French Chateau items or maybe you have been dying to pick up the Adobe house... well, now is your chance. These re-released buildings will be in the Market for another 7 days.

On Wednesday, we also made some minor tweaks to the Tuscan Wedding feature that I am sure most of you will enjoy. In addition to extending the Tuscan Wedding event until June 29th, now, whenever you send any Tuscan Wedding gifts to your friends they will receive more. Instead of only sending one item per Tuscan Wedding Gift, your friends will automatically receive 2. We have also discounted the favor cost of the cake, sheep, Pig Art, Apollo Butterfly, fountain and Tower so obtaining these items should be significantly easier for everyone.

And as most of our users may know, yesterday marked FarmVille's 1 year Anniversary! As a thank you to all of our dedicated farmers for your continuous support, a special gift was given to all of our players that can be found in your Gift Box the next time you log in. We also released the first installment of the Limited Edition Japanese theme last night, along with 7 new flags and the new Cupcake crop! The cupcake crop is a limited edition crop that is required for the new 1st anniversary co-op mission that also made an appearance with last night's release. For anyone who may be interested, the cupcake crop is an 8 hour crop, costs 25 coins to plant, yields 60 coins when harvested and is one of the few Limited Edition crops that can be mastered.

And lastly, the wheat crop has been changed, as I mentioned a few weeks ago. The wheat crop is now a 12 hour crop, costs 13 coins to plant, gives 1 experience point and yields 61 coins when harvested. This change was made because the wheat crop will be a key component in the new Crafting Cottages feature and we did not want users having to use a multi-day crop for their first recipes.

And as with all of our big updates, we want to hear your feedback. If you have an opinion you would like to share or an idea for how you think we can improve farmville, please make sure to visit our official FarmVille forums or talk to us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/zfarmville.

Alright! On that note, it's time for you guys to get a sneak peek of things coming to FarmVille in the near future.

So our new Japanese Garden theme will be continuing through next week, so expect to see even more Limited Edition Japanse items in the near future. This theme will also be bringing with it a new buildable Japanese Barn. The Japanese Barn will be a limited edition storage building.

We also have a new feature being released soon that our baby animal lovers will enjoy. Soon, you will be able to get piglets from your friends by rescuing an expecting lost pig.

And lastly, an all new Mystery Box will be coming next week that will have one of your favorite feathered friends from a looooong time ago in it.

Alright folks, that's it from me this week. I will be back next Friday to give you all of the latest news and information from around the farm. Again, my name is Lexilicious and I would like to thank everyone for listening.

Happy Farming everybody!

What's an Uber Gift in FarmVille, Mafia Wars and YoVille.

WHAT'S AN ÜBER GIFT?

An Über gift is a big, awesome gift. There are 3 of them, one from each game. The right combination of Buy.Earn.Play credits will earn you all 3 Über gifts at the same time: 200 Farm Cash in FarmVille, 50 Skill Points in Mafia Wars and a Slurpee machine for your house in YoVille! (There is no way to win Über gifts individually).

HOW DO I DO THIS?
You’ll need to redeem 5 to 8 Buy.Earn.Play. credits as well as complete 1 to 3 Zynga tasks. Each 7-Eleven product is worth 1 Buy.Earn.Play credit, while a Zynga game card is worth 2 credits. After 9 notches in your belt, you’ll unlock all 3 incredible üBER gifts at once. Don’t forget to keep track of your progress in the Gift Tracker tab at BuyEarnPlay.com.

EXAMPLE
Slurpee + Big Gulp + Ice Cream + Bottled Water + Hot Coffee + Chips + Grill Item + Orange Soda + Complete One Zynga Task = All 3 üBER gifts

To get started on unlocking these Uber Gifts, head to the buyearnplay.com website, login to the site with your Facebook account and agree to the terms of the promotion. Once that's done, you'll be directed to the red Uber Gift page. (If you don't automatically land on the page, click the red Uber Gift tab) with a brief (and slightly confusing) description on how to acquire these special gifts.

See those nine white dots at the top of the page? Essentially, you have to fill up those dots by doing a combo of redeeming codes (each code fills up one spot, you can also use Zynga cash cards, which will fill up two spots) and performing 1-3 in-game tasks (more on these below).

For example: Redeem codes from a Slurpee + Big Gulp + Ice Cream + Bottled Water + Hot Coffee + Chips + Grill Item + Orange Soda and complete one Zynga task = 9 activities that will fill up the dots. Once all nine dots are full, you'll be able to collect all three Uber Gifts.

Note: Don't try to cut corners by trying to redeem more than one Zynga card -- only one will count toward meeting the requirements to unlock the Uber Gifts.

OK, now onto these so-called 'Zynga Tasks' needed to collect the Uber-gift. There are special tasks assigned to FarmVille, Mafia Wars and YoVille players. You must complete at least one to get the Uber Gifts, and if you play all three games, you can just do all of the tasks. Then all three of those tasks will go toward meeting the Uber Gifts requirements (then you'll only have to redeem six 7-Eleven items to get the special gifts).

Here are the Zynga tasks, broken down by game:

FarmVille

After redeeming a FarmVille-themed item, you will unlock a limited-edition Goji Berry crop. You must achieve level 3 mastery of this crop to complete the FarmVille task.

Mafia Wars:

After redeeming a Mafia Wars-themed item, you will unlock the Corner Store Collection of virtual items in the game. You will then need to complete 41 jobs and win 10 fights in order to unlock all items in the Corner Store Collection and receive a Limited Edition bonus gift. Task complete.

YoVille:

The YoVille task is a little less labor-intensive than the other two (not sure why). All you have to do is redeem seven YoVille themed items, and you earn a Limited Edition bonus gift. Task complete.

Once you've done the work you can reap the benefit of having 200 extra Farm Cash at your disposal (or one of those other two items) ... and you even get a Slurpee or 10 out of the deal.
