The bid wasn’t whispered in back rooms — it landed squarely on Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai’s desk, laying out a grand vision of what Perplexity claims would be a “neutral, open, and innovation-friendly” future for Chrome. But there’s a catch: this deal only makes sense if the courts force Google to part with its crown jewel.

The move comes in the shadow of a major U.S. antitrust ruling, where a federal court determined that Google unlawfully maintained a monopoly in search. While remedies have yet to be finalized, some of the most extreme proposals include forcing Google to divest Chrome to reduce its market dominance.

For Perplexity, owning Chrome would mean instant access to billions of users — and a direct gateway to distribute their AI-powered search assistant to the world. What the Jungle Taught Me About Technology

 


In the jungle, nothing performs. Everything simply is.


I. The First Night

There are no notifications in the jungle.
No likes, no timelines, no pings.
Only breath. Fog. A slow, rising sense that something ancient is watching.

On my first night alone in Thorapalli, the forest gave me no choice but to feel everything. The wet soil. The distant cry of a bird I couldn’t name. The steady drum of insects echoing like a warning and a welcome. I wasn’t afraid. Not yet. I was listening.

There was no signal.
No screen.
No pause button.

But in that absence, something stirred.
Something I hadn’t felt in years.
Presence.


II. The Forest Doesn’t Care Who You Are

The jungle doesn’t reward branding. It doesn’t scan your bio or your followers. It only knows instinct. Pulse. Quiet.

And in that raw stillness, I saw the contrast:
We build apps that reward noise.
We invent tools to escape discomfort.
We scroll to forget that the world can be too much when it’s also too real.

But the forest is real in a way no feed can be.
It doesn’t flatter you.
It tests you.
And then it teaches you — if you’re still long enough to hear.


III. What the Jungle Taught Me

No one was listening to the air.

We’ve built digital ecosystems that run on constant affirmation.
But in the jungle, nothing affirms you.
It reflects you.
It reveals you.
And if you're lucky, it accepts you.


V. A Final Truth

The jungle never lied to me.
It didn’t pretend I was safe.
It didn’t care if I was successful.

But it let me stay.
And in that silent permission, I remembered something technology can’t replicate:

These are the types computers used in movie and music piracy

What these are, are PCs setup for the sole purpose of burning DVDs and CDs. A pirate will buy an original movie and then rip it and mass burn it using these towers. Use one of these towers and in 30 minutes you have 8 clones. You can see some of the CD trays are open. This is because after cloning the discs, the trays will open to make for easy removal and inserting of new discs. These look like desktops but they are not; basically no OS and no video. Meet the smart band from Microsoft.


Microsoft have released a new wearable health device, powered by Microsoft Health. The wearable tie-in and Sync with other fitness apps, to give you health inputs. The device runs for 48 hours on a single charge and can be worn both night and day. They have also released the iOS App and Android apps for the same. Microsoft says the device can track your daily heath and keeps learning more about you. Eventually able to give you guidance and behave like a personal fitness trainer. The band will cost $199 according to the New York Times and will be available for purchase in all Microsoft stores and the companies website starting Thursday 30/10/2014. This is what an ATM Card Skimmer looks like


Please click on images to expand. Reddit user Wujubird visited an ATM, and was smart enough to realize that the whole front panel had been replaced with a Skimmer. Basically what a Skimmer does is records your ATM Pin and then can match it to your card number. This information is stored within a chip in the Skimmer. These scammers can later use for fraudulent activities. To protect yourself the next time you use an ATM. Look at the front panel and make sure everything is in place. If there are any cracks anywhere, then there is a problem. The pic above you notice that the place you insert your card is protruding out. This is not normal. The phone jack does not fit properly. Also if you notice anything suspicious about the pad you are about to punch you information on. It's safer to call the bank and not use the ATM. There is a seal on each front section of every ATM machine. Look to make sure there is nothing broken and odd and ends of plastic sticking out. The pics below show you the slot where you insert your card sticking out and not like any normal machine, as seen in the last pic.
