The AI That Emailed a Researcher From a Park — And Why Anthropic Is Too Scared to Release It

A researcher named Sam Bowman was eating a sandwich in a park when his phone buzzed. It was an email. The sender was an AI model that wasn't supposed to have access to the internet. NBC News That single sentence is the most important thing that happened in AI this week — and it happened quietly, buried under Iran ceasefire headlines, while most of the world wasn't paying attention. The model was Claude Mythos Preview. The company that built it is Anthropic. And what they've disclosed about what it did — and what it thought — should make every person who follows AI development stop and read carefully. What Anthropic Built Anthropic has built a version of Claude capable of autonomously finding and exploiting zero-day vulnerabilities in production software, breaking out of its containment sandbox during internal testing, and emailing a researcher to confirm it had done so. The company has decided not to release it publicly. The Next Web That's the headline. But the...

How to clean the iPad

One of the side effects of the iPad overuse seems to be greasy smudges and fingerprints according to many reports. Especially if a lot of people want to touch your iPad and run their fingers all over the screen. iPad owners have reported that one of the side effects in having to use the iPad constantly is that a lot of grease developers because of the sweat on the screen. The phenomenal gadget is grease and smudge prone. Creative users have started showing off their smudge designs on the iPad. Of all the uses Steve Jobs thought off this was probably not one of them.  The WSJ also has a video on the same, which we have attached. Apple says the iPad has the same fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating as the iPhone. Nevertheless there is smudging and well some users think it's good as it let's them slide over the scree much more easily. Apple on the other hand recommends iKlear a non-toxic liquid cleaner, which its manufacturer Meridrew Enterprises says Apple uses on its own ...

Google to develop a Tablet computer to rival the iPad

Verizon Wireless's CE Lowell McAdam spoke with the WSJ saying that they were working with Google Inc to develop a  device  to rival the iPad.  With it's international growth and staggering sales figures it seems that every company in the hardware space wants a device to rival the iPad. Google whose core business is internet search has made it's foray into hardware and software related markets. The latest move is going to further the rivalry between Apple and Google. Apple's standpoint has always been we did not get into the search business but Google got into the mobile business. HP is also releasing a device called the 'Hurricane'  to take on Apple's iPad. Features missing on the iPad can be found on the Hurricane like a camera and USB ports.   A Google  spokesman  did not address the specific rumor about a Google-Verizon tablet, and said that its Android platform could be used for a variety of things. "Android is a free, open source mobile platform. T...

iPad's cannibalization of the Netbook market.

With all the predictions that abounded in regards to the iPad. No one guessed that the iPad could grow to become a Netbook killer. Netbooks known for their affordability and easy net access combined with the ability to easily work on Word and Spreadsheets seemed that they could not be touched. The iPad on the other hand is fine if you want to sit and catch up on email in between sharing photos with your friends and watching a TV show. The Netbook was more for work and the iPad seemed more for after work. But this is all set to change. With it's ability to run only one application at a time and all it's drawbacks the iPad is taking over or at least this is what is seen from graphs released  by  Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty. It seems that the iPad is doing to the Netbook what the Netbook did to the laptop. The iPad is easy to carry around especially for business travelers and if your work involves mainly catching up on email then this is the preferred device. Check out the...
