YouTube to start charging for Premium Channels

YouTube that has been free for more than a decade - have now launched a bomb, YouTube to start charging for some channels. Premium quality content channels like The onion and WWE will be able to start charging for subscriptions. YouTube's parent company Google, have been toying with this idea for a long time and now it's all set to launch. This should happen as early as this week. The way it works is that premium channel partners like The Onion and WWE can add a subscription button for users to be able to view their channels. Subscriptions can start from as low as $1.99 a month and there are 50 channels that are ready to take the dive. The channels themselves might actually welcome this new revenue stream, which gives them a chance to generate additional revenue for their efforts. This is not in effect for all channels but only for carefully pre-selected quality content channels.
