Oprah Winfrey worried about falling traffic to her website

Oprah Winfrey is scheduled to meet with some of the leaders in the Social Media industry and the topic - How to boost traffic to Oprah.com. The site is a joint venture between Oprah and Discovery Communications. The problem that has arisen is this; the traffic to her website has decreased since her daytime talk-show ended in May. According to ComScore data shows that the site received 5.1 million visitors in January but only  2.4 million in July.

The gathering is expected to happen at the home of Sheryl Sandberg - COO Facebook, according to the Post. Also expected to attend are Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, Demand Media’s Richard Rosenblatt and LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner, among others, it said.Winfrey will bring executives from her TV production company, Harpo and Hearst, which publishes Oprah’s magazine.

There could be many reasons why the visitor numbers have fallen. For one the show has ended and therefore the popularity. What people need is constant visibility and when that goes so do the visitors. Unless of course you are a god-man and people follow you wherever you go.

The good news is that she will be appearing on Facebook Live on the 8th of September. The one-hour event starts at 1:30 p.m. PT/4:30 p.m. ET if you do miss it you can always watch the recorded version later. Her Facebook and Twitter pages however are really going strong.

Video: Dave, Oprah & Jay Leno's Super Bowl Ad, Leno says Dave found me on Facebook.

It was Facebook that brought Jay Leno and David Letterman together for Sunday's Super Bowl commercial that also included Oprah Winfrey.

Jay Leno says he and Letterman hadn't seen each other in 18 years. But, Leno jokes Letterman found him on Facebook, he made a friend request and Leno accepted. And, Leno says that's how he and Letterman "hooked up and watched the game.
Letterman jokes he wants to "thank the actors who played Oprah and also Jay Leno. They did a tremendous job." Letterman has been at odds with Leno ever since Letterman was passed over as host of "The Tonight Show" when Johnny Carson left.

Oprah Winfrey to end TV talk show in 2011

Oprah Winfrey has announced that she will be ending her popular daytime talk show when her contract ends on Sept 2011. The show that brought the highest number of viewers was when she had a sit down with Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Oprah has been a real crowd puller and has proved she can move people to vote, give to charity and what not.

The latest buss is that she is teaming with Discovery Networks to launch The Oprah Winfrey Show (OWS) which she will help program. It may go live in 2011.

This is the end of an era of day time talk shows. It is going to be difficult to replace her or for others shows to gain this kind of momentum anytime soon.

Anyways to catch the buzz tune into Fridays live show where she will be talking about it
