Physics teacher does a Google Glass hangout at the large hadron collider [Video]

So here's the story about the video you see below. One thing I saw being debated on CNN yesterday was the application of Google Glass. Throughout the discussion one thing was very clear - Google Glass would be good for teaching and that's exactly what one physics professor did. Andrew Vanden Heuvel who teaches physics online especially for schools that don't offer advanced physics courses. Did something really cool. He got a chance to experiment with Google Glass and wore it on a field trip to CERN in Switzerland. CERN is the place to go to if you want to look back to the very beginning of the universe.

physics teacher takes google glass to CERNCERN is also the birthplace of the World Wide Web WWW - yeah, the internet. In the video you get to see the large hadron collider. Andrew also gets on a cycle adn takes a ride down the 27 km tunnel, which his brothers students get to watch the whole thing. This is a pretty amazing video and thanks to Google Glass - these kind of techie things are possible. Andrew also has a blog called 'Teaching with Google Glass', which you can follow to check out his Google Glass Classes.

Google Glass Hacked

Google Glass the futuristic tech gadget from Google has been hacked. Google Glass must have been a target for hackers ever since its release. With a name like Glass it was begging for hackers to try and tinker with it. That is exactly what has been done by Jay Freeman also known as Saurik, who created the Cydia App store for JailBreak iOS phones did just that. With the hack he has successfully gained root access to Google Glass.

Google Glass hackedThe way he went about it was that, after discovering that Google Glass ran on Android 4.0.4 he began testing older known exploits and discovered that one exploit worked. The exploit released by a hacker that goes by the name of B1nary, allowed him full access to Google Glass operating system. he says he is not really sure what he would be able to do with the root access. There are some things that could be possible like, storing files locally and not on Google servers. he is not the first to gain root access to Google Glass.

So how has Google responded to the hack. Tim Bray Google Staffer says 'Google Glass is hackable, Duh. As usual Google is already a step ahead. hackers however are some really cool dudes, who have immensely help Tech become cleaner and safer.

Google Glass Video 'Ok Glass'

Google Glass has been in the news after disappearing for sometime. Google Glass are augmented realty glass eye-wear from Google. It is to be worn like regular glasses with a huge difference however. These glasses can shoot video, take a pic, share to your social networks and even make calls. These are just a few of the possibilities of Google Glass. The latest video from Google shows at least two commands that that the Glass follows. 'Ok Glass' will tell Google Glass to get ready to take a pic or shoot a video. Saying Google will bring up search results on whatever you might be looking at, at the moment. Saying Ok Glass tells the device that the users wants to do something - maybe check the weather, get driving directions or launch a video chat hangout.

Video: Sergey Brin lets interviewer try on Google Glass which he hopes to launch sometime next year

Google's Project Glass was in the news a few days ago when Sergey Brin Google's co-founder was spotted wearing the AR glasses. Google Glass is in the news today again and this time because of a video where Sergey Brin actually lets an interviewer try on Google Glass. Gavin from The Gavin Newsroom Show gets a chance to try on the hi-fi piece of eye-wear and get a glimpse of the product the Sergey hopes will be out next year. There has been a lot of speculation with analysts saying it will be years before the glasses are available to the public. Sergey on the other hand says that he hopes to have it out sometime next year. This does sound a little bit fat-fetched. But hey, this is Google and they do have a reputation for getting things done on time and beating deadlines. This smartphone for the face does everything your phone can without you having to use your hands. It is like an 'Advanced Skunk Works project' he says and yes it is really out there. Check out the video below and see for yourself what Sergey Brin has to say about it.

Google Glasses: Augmented Reality Glasses from Google

If you look at the pictures of the glasses in this post the first question people are asking on the internet is will you wear them. The glasses however are not built for style but more as a utility. It is one of Google's ambitious projects to make technology work for you when you want and then get it out of the way when you don't. So if you see someone with these glasses on you know they are from Google and testing their new sci-fi glasses.

How do the Google Glasses work.
For one it is always connected to the internet and integrates with various kinds of services. The UI shows the person in the video below going about his daily business and able to view the weather outside, receive and make voice and video calls, check-in to places and find directions to places. He is able to do all this will simply voice commands and auto-suggestions that seem to pop-up at exactly the right places. Couple of analysts have said the glasses will have 3G and 4G capability to make all this possible

Google reveled these glasses to the world in a Google+ post removing the veil of speculation that had been hanging over their pet project. The whole concept seems so futuristic that is difficult to even imagine these eye-wear products being available in the market for a very long time. The reason why these Googlers shared this project is because they want to start a conversation and get feedback. They need not wait too long for feedback as news of these amazing glasses has spread all across the internet and is all over the news. One point that most users are talking about is that: will ads pop-up? So what do you think about these glasses and would you wear em?
