Big Tech's Day of Reckoning: What the Meta and Google Verdicts Really Mean

In the span of just 48 hours this week, two separate juries in two different US states delivered verdicts that could reshape the entire social media industry — not because of the dollar amounts involved, but because of what those verdicts legally establish for the first time. On Tuesday, March 24, a jury in Santa Fe, New Mexico ordered Meta to pay $375 million for failing to protect children from sexual exploitation on Facebook and Instagram. Less than 24 hours later, on Wednesday, March 25, a jury in Los Angeles found both Meta and Google (YouTube) liable for engineering addiction in young users — finding them negligent in the design of their platforms and awarding a further $6 million in damages. Google ditches Windows citing security concerns

It started after Google's Chinese operation were hacked and from early January Google has been working to phase out Windows operating systems internally. It has been reported that Google is moving all of it's 20,000 employees worldwide either onto  Apple Mac OS, Linux or it's own Chrome operating system. Google believes that the vulnerability of Windows was the reason why the Chinese hack was possible in the first place.  The move however is a nice boost for Linux but is unlikely to cause any worry to Microsoft too much. 9 out of every 10 computers in the world run on the Windows Operating System.
