Now that you are connected with the family, friends and co-workers there are status updates you would like to share with only some of them.If it is work related you don't want to bore your family with those status updated. Maybe you want to share some photo memories only with your mail and not your casual business contacts. How do you share this information privately.
To keep your status updated private you would need to create a list.
When you create a list. The reason you need to create a list is so when you want to share with a group of people you can enter this list before you click the 'Share' button on your status updated.
How to create a list on Facebook.
1. On the top right hand corner click on 'Account'.
2. Click on 'Edit Friends'
3. From the left hand menu below lists click on 'Friends'
4. On Top just below the search bar you see the link 'Create New List'. Click on that.
5. Enter a name for your new list. e.g Business, Colleagues, Friends, Family.
6. List of your contacts appear.
7. Simply click on each contact to add them automatically to the list.
8. Once your done click on 'Create List' found at the bottom of your contacts.
9. Your List has been created
Make sure you have divided your contacts into lists especially if you have a large number of contacts.
How to Share only with a list you have created.
Sharing your status updates with your lists means the update remains private. Viewable only by a list chosen by you.
1. Enter your status update.
2. On the left hand side of the 'Share' button you have a button with a small lock and a downward pointing arrow. Click on that.
3. From the drop down menu choose 'Customize'
4. A 'Custom Privacy' window opens.
5. Beside 'Make This Visible To' there is a 'These People' Option
6. Click the Drop Down box and Choose ' Specific People'
7. A box appears which Says 'Enter a Name or a List'
8. Enter the name of your list there.
9. Click on 'Save Settings'
10. Post your Status Update.
From the drop down box you can choose a list, a number of lists, a list plus a single other person. Just a specific group of people. You can even share with just a single person. So if you want to post your status updates to only a single person you can follow this same method.
