YouTube new redesign features

YouTube has gone through a complete redesign with a view to keep all of us watching longer. There is also a lot more interactivity and sharing options. Most of what you used to see on the left of the video has now been moved below the video.

You can also share a video now with a single click on Facebook. Twitter, Myspace, Orkut, StumbleUpon, LiveSpaces, Hi5 And Bebo. You can also share by email.

For those of you who use the embedding options which used to be on the right. It is now found below the video.

With regards to user comments. The comment with the highest rating is now featured prominently above all the other comments.

Additional information about the video is also consolidated below the video. This is a very subtle change but noticeable for long time YouTube users.

You will no more see the five stars rating system on YouTube. You now have only two buttons like with a thumbs up and another button with a thumbs down. The logic being that when the five stars were around people still clicked only on 1 or 5. So either you like it or you don't.

Name of the person's channel is now directly above the video and a drop down button to show you other videos uploaded by the user.

There is also better search integration. Depending on how you found the video, did you come via a search query, playlist or recommendation. So if you arrived via a search query the videos suggested on the right are the other results you could have clicked on. Of you found the video via a playlist or recommended video. The videos featured on the right are similar in nature. YouTube wants their video search to work smarter.

FarmVille new limited edition items

FarmVille has some new cool limited editions items heading to all farmers.

In addition to the regular mystery box there will also be an April's Fool day mystery box for a limited amount of time.

Spring themed limited items that are coming soon include a chocolate cow, egg shaped houses and some very cute little bunnies.

4. Each one of these jobs will have a timer.
5. If you and your friends finish the job before the timer expires you will receive either a gold silver or bronze medal depending on how quick and efficient you are your friends were.
6. The faster you finish the better the medal
7. If you and your neighbors are savvy enough to win a gold medal you will unlock a very special prize.

FarmVille Pony Foals

FarmVille has released an update with regards to the Horse Stables. Previously the pink haired ponies and the brown ponies would only produce brown foals when placed in the horse stable as of March 25th Brown ponies and pink haired ponies would now produce pony foals when now placed in the horse stable with a stallion. So ponies can now produce pony foals.

FarmVille Spring Basket

FarmVille's spring themed feature the new spring basket allows you to collect spring eggs (easter eggs) from your friends and redeem them for special items. (calls easter eggs. spring eggs because not all of their users celebrate easter).

This feature works exactly as the valentine's day box and the pot of gold.

How this feature works.
On opening your gift box you will find a spring basket waiting for you. After you place the spring basket on your farm you will be able to start collecting spring eggs. In order to collect spring eggs you will have to receive them from friends as gifts. Eggs can be sent to neighbors via the free gifts page. You will also be able to find eggs while fertilizing a neighbors farm. Clicking the "Asked For Eggs" button will allow you to send a single spring eggs to any of your friends just like the free gifts page. This gives you friends the chance to send you one in return. New farmers having been around for seven days or less can send out more eggs at a time. New farmers can send three spring eggs to a single friend. Upon accepting a spring egg it will appear in your gift box. Clicking "Use" will place the gift in your box automatically.

Every five spring eggs you collect you'll be able to post a feed to your wall to alert your friends of how all your doing and give them a chance to collect a free spring egg. Ten neighbors will be able to collect one free spring eggs by clicking on the feed within 24 hours. For each notch on the meter of your spring egg progress bar you basket will change appearance. Over flowing with more and more gifts. Clicking "Progress" in the spring basket menu will show you how many eggs you have in comparison to your friends.

How to build a yard in PetVille

PetVille has announced new Yards for your pet house. There is a simple way to get started and you can also help your friends get started by sending them free gifts. The new yard store is also open and ready for business with materials to help decorate your yard.

How to Build a yard.
There are 5 different kinds of material that you will need.
Collect each of 10 yard building materials for a total of 50 items
Each of your friends can send you different kinds of materials
Extra yard material can be purchased from the yard window


How to get started.
To get started you would need to click on the new yard icon on the right side of your house.

There will be a progress sign while you are constructing your yard.

You get one wheelbarrow of dirt to help you get started. Your yard will contain a wooden sign with a green button on it. Click this button to use the materials you have collected. This button can be used anytime you have new materials to use.

Materials:

Once you have used up all your materials you would need to click on the "Get Supplies" button in your yard to bring up the materials window. In this window you can see how many more materials you would need, buy more materials, or ask your friends to send you more materials.

Send your friends yard materials for free and ask them to send some back to you.

Sending Materials:

Each pet can send 2 of the 5 materials you will need. These materials that you gift are determined randomly, so you will need the help of a few friends to collect all of the 5 different kinds of materials that you will need.

Once your done:

Once you finish building your yard you can then begin to decorate. Visit the new yard store to find decorations. Click on the world icon to visit the brand new yard store.

AT&T set to launch Dell Smartphone in the US

Dell's Smartphone the Aero is to be launched by AT&T in the US and will run on Google's Android operating system.

The Smarphone market in the US is already crowded led by RIM followed by Apple and other andriod based Smartphones. Apple therefore better have features that are not available on the Blackberry and the iPhone.

Gmail users get new Suspicious Activity Alert

Google has officially announced via a blog post that Gmail users will not have suspicious activity alert in the account. So if there is someone trying to hack into your account or maybe even hacked into your account. You will be notified and asked to change your password immediately. 


Now, if it looks like something unusual is going on with your account, we’ll also alert you by posting a warning message saying, "Warning: We believe your account was last accessed from…" along with the geographic region that we can best associate with the access. 


So if someone is trying to remotely trying to access your account or gained entry into your account you will be notified along with the geographic location of the hack.


By clicking on the details link next to the message you will be able to see account activity along with the latest geographical points of access.


Now if it is legal in the sense that you were travelling or maybe or your husband/wife is also travelling you can click on dismiss to stop the alert.


So the next time you are traveling and see the alert there is no need to panic as Google says they are doing this to ensure users get the best possible privacy details.

This Weeks podcast from FarmVille brought out an interesting uses questions. The user wanted to know if baby animals on FarmVille ever grow up. The answer to that was that baby animals as of now do not grow up but FarmVille plans to introduce a new feature to users who want their baby animals to grow up. The game creators have announced that if users choose they can allow their baby animals to grow up.

This is still in the works and the feature has not been released but soon will. So those users who do not want their baby animals to stay babies forever will now have an option to allow their baby animals to grow up. So farmers can now have the calf's and foals grow into full grown adults. The plan is to introduce this feature this coming spring and more details will be available soon.

Yes it's Happy Birthday Twitter once again. March 21st 2006 was when Twitter saw it's first Tweet. Jack Dorsey sent the first Tweet " Just Setting up my Twttr". 4 years on and Twitter is totally becoming a global phenomena averaging 50 millions Tweets a day.


Hated by some loved my many Twitter attracts some sort of response. Being lukewarm towards Twitter is not something you see.  Twitter has changed the world 140 characters at a time.

FarmVille Wandering Stallions

How to get a foal in FarmVille.

You need to first find a Stallion wandering around on your farm. Once found you could offer shelter to the New Stallion in your Horse Stable resulting in a Foal the next time your harvest your stable. This seems the easiest way to get this cute looking creature on your Farm.

So the next time you login to the game you will find an information pop-up warning you that you may come across a wondering Stallion on your farm. Once you find the stallion you can post your new discovery to your wall. you friends can click on it and also give the stallion shelter for the night inside their own stables.

So the next time you and your friends harvest your stables you are likely to find a new foal. You don't actually adopt a stallion but simply give it shelter for the night.

Here's how it works.

1. Periodically you will get a pop-up that a wondering stallion has appeared on your farm
2. This pop-up will allow you to post a feed to your wall
3. 10 of your neighbors can click on this feed to give shelter to this wondering stallion.
4. The wondering stallion is an event not a permanent animal that can be kept on your farm
5. Choosing to give the wandering stallion shelter means he will automatically be placed into your horse stable.
6. If you have a stallion to stand a chance of receiving a foal next time you collect from your stable
7. If you already have a stallion you cannot get another
8. Clicking on multiple feeds from your friends does not increase your chances of getting a foal.
9. Once a foal is born you receive a pop up informing you that your foal is eager to explore the world.
10. This feed can be posted to your wall and 5 of your neighbors clicking on this feed can receive a foal.
11. Types of foal are determined by the types of horses in your stable.
12. The type of foal you receive is determined by the kind of horses in your stable. Stables filled with pinto horses are more likely to find a pinto foal.
13. The pink pony, brown pony,  high kick horse and spectator horse will produce a brown foal.
14. Once your harvest a foal you would need to click on another wandering stallion to get another new foal.
15. The limited edition white stallion can be placed inside your horse stable and  will act as a permanent wondering stallion. So each time you harvest from your stable you will stand a chance of finding a foal.
16. If you find a foal you will not find a consumable. So if your priority is to find a consumable you may not want to click on the wandering stallion.
17. If you do not receive a foal when you harvest your stable you will receive a arborist, farmhand or a 100 XP.
18. baby foal are more than just cute. They can be brushed every 24 hours and they cannot be placed inside your horse stable.

"Nexus One" trademark denied to Google

Let's see isn't this embarrassing. Google applies for the Nexus One trademark and is denied because a small Oregon firm already owns the rights to the name. Somehow the genius minds at Google had failed to take into account the name. 


The United States Patent and Trademark Office(PTO) recently denied Google's trademark application for "Nexus One" because Portland, Oregon-based Integra Telecom already has rights to the name. As first reported by TG Daily, the small telecommunications company registered "Nexus One" two years ago and uses it for its telecom services.


The company Integra does have trademark right for "Nexus" and is willing to Google about it. They are willing to discuss and make sure interests of both companies are met. Google however has said that they will fight the ruling. 


Some how Google names seems to keep running into troubled waters.


Soon after the phone's launch, the family of late science fiction author Philip K. Dick asked Google to stop using the "Nexus One" name, which it says is too similar to the Nexus 6 cyborgs that appear in Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

make sure your plots are well organized on your farm. This leads to experience and profit.

Taking advantage of your animals
More than just being cute once your animal counter reaches 100% you can collect milk, wool and eggs which you can then sell for coins. The more coins you have the richer you are to spend for other items

Build them up.
Buildings don't just add to the aesthetics of your farm they also provide you with experience and profit. Horse Stables, Chicken Coops and Diary Barns are used to store your animals and if your lucky you can find a Foal or calf when collecting from your Horse Stable or Dairy Barn.

Add more land to your Farm.
If you feeling cramped and need to expand your horizons add more land to your farm. land can be purchased from the marketplace for Coins or Farm Cash. In order to expand your land for coins you must have enough neighbors. Check the marketplace to find how many neighbors you need to buy more land for coins.

Farm Rides
In order to help you with your farming needs FarmVille features a Hot Rod Tractor, Harvester and Seeder that can be used to plow, plant and harvest your farm in no time.

Fruits from your trees.
Once your tree counter reaches 100% you can then collect fruits and sell the fruits for coins. Fruits harvested do not wither and there is no problem with keeping them as they will not rot. So collect and sell your fruit for coins.

Achievements
FarmVille from time to time launches a lot of achievement contests. Like earning a ribbon to show off to your friends. By completing various tasks within the game you can gain Experience Points (XP), Decorations for your Farm and Coins.

Harvest Timing
Time your planting well because FarmVille features crops that harvest at varying times. So make sure you plants crops that ripen when you are available. Ensuring that your crops are less likely to wither.

Helping your neighbors
Go to your neighbors farm and help out with their daily chores and fertilizing their crops. Doing so will give you valuable experience points and coins. In addition fertilized crops will give you additional experience points when harvested so don't let them wither.

Leave comments for your neighbors 
FarmVille features a comment box which can be used to send and receive messages from your friends. By clicking the Visits Tab in your comment box you can easily keep a track of who has visited your farm, fed your chickens, fertilized your crops and sent you gifts.

Save your coins.
When starting of for the first time do not add too many plots. Plant and plow in moderation for the first few levels. You do not want to spend all your money on plots and run out of coins to buy crops.

FarmVille shortcuts.
Many consumables are available on FarmVille to make your daily chores easy. You could use the 'Arborist' and 'Farm Hands' items to harvest all your trees and animals with a single click.

Google and partners said to be developing Google TV

It has been reported that Google and partners are developing Google TV. Google an Intel have teamed up with Sony to bring out a new generation of televisions and set-top boxes. For Google and Intel it is a way of bringing their internet and computing dominance to an arena where they have had little say and for Sony it would be a big competitive and technological advantage.

The three giants have also tapped Logitech which makes remote controls and speakers. The new set-top box will make it easy for TV users to navigate popular social networkings sites right from their TV. The software used will be the Android operating system created by Google.

A person with knowledge of the Google TV project said that the set-top box technology was sufficiently advanced that Google had begun testing it with Dish Network, one of Google’s longstanding partners in the TV Ads program.

This will also give Google the opportunity to further it's reach in TV advertising.
